Success Story #1 : Don Rankin |

At this point I am fluent in ALL of the pentatonic, blues pentatonic and 5th &7th's scales you provided in the books. I am now using them in a 1-2-3 sequence (penta-blues-5th). This helps me remember them also builds finger strength and speed. I've been around guitars for a lot of years, in many cases flying blind listening over and over to 'figure out' riffs, progressions, etc. "Your course has helped me to link things together." I find myself listening to other players and
literally picking up their note progressions without even trying. What
was once very difficult is now coming more easily. I still
have the challenge of developing better finger co-ordination and finger
stretch. But it is coming. Thanks.

Success Story #2 : James Uroda |

I have only watched the 1st DVD and studied that book through the 5 chord progressions. Here is one thing that I have learned. When you said that there is no B or F in the blues it struck a bell. Now I am able to figure out each one as I try to learn them. "It has helped me learn the keyboard." I do enjoy your presentations but I am pretty bad with music. I have a good ear and that is what has carried me over the years that I have been playing. I don't care much about the new blues but know what the old time ones are suppose to sound like and that is what I practice. With the 100 old country and bluegrass and blues songs that I know it takes me quite a while to review them. I make up my own blues and can do 30 minutes of that at a time. Hoping I didn't spend too
much text for you to peruse.
I enjoy
the effort that you put into what you are trying to present.
I am too old and have too many interests to pursue the
guitar to a high level, just enjoy playing and singing and
recording songs.

It's not that simple. I've tried other Blues instruction books/CDs before. "This is different because it offers clear, comprehensible, enjoyable and complete instruction." The DVDs draw you in and encourage you. Compared to other teachers where they just want to show you how good THEY are. Dan wants to teach those who want to learn!

There is so much good stuff in BGS, but for me lifting the veil on the relationship between chords, scales and (from the AGS Blog) modes, is a major breakthrough. This has to be pretty fundamental to actually 'playing' the instrument, and not just mimicking, parrot fashion. I'm not fully there yet. "It’s an exciting journey!"

How to
improvise solos
in the 5 different positions over a 12 bar blues pattern. Some new techniques
for playing/substituting chords in the 12 bar pattern. Haven't really got far
enough yet to make any more valid comments. I sometimes feel that some of the
video clips are a bit long winded-tighter editing of your commentary would help
at times.

I tried many courses in the UK and didn't get on with them at all. "I found Dan's course exceptionally easy to grasp." I am now able to play things that I was unable to play two years prior. This is an in depth course but done in a layman’s way. I would strongly recommend any beginner or pro to contact Dan about this course and others that may be available. I will be looking at purchasing some more of Dan's courses in the near future on other subjects of guitar playing. Thanks very much, you are a life saver, you have inspired me to carry on guitar playing as I was about to give it all up. I have shown this course to some of my friends who
play and they were very impressed.

"I can see the relationship from the Pentatonic Major Caged patterns in relationship with the Blues scale." The A minor pentatonic is the same as the G major
pattern. So, I guess the sixth position of the major scale is the relative
minor.

Success Story #48 : John Sawyer |

I'm learning what the various positions are.I've
been playing blues guitar a while
and figured out the scale notes from 6th string root to 1st string root, but as
one long run rather than specific scales in specific positions.

The five positions on the fretboard on pentatonic minor and five blues positions is the largest single thing that I like. I've also learned how to change from one position to the next. I've been playing by ear for quite a while and could never figure out how to go up the neck in a way that made any sense... until I took your course. "All the items you show are really great (especially the hammer on and pull offs) and just adds to the greatness of this course....." I couldn't be happier. Thanks alot!

I was confused as to the full technique of the pentatonic minor scale and positions. Any past exposure to this really left me quite frustrated and I could not even get past the logistics, never mind practical playing application! "Within a two week period of studying the course I was playing the full scale in all positions, and actually creating my own solos with the jam tracks." I learned more in two weeks than I have this past year. I know that there is a wealth of new stuff to learn
in the course, as I have just started, but I can say without reservation that
studying this course has already boosted my playing (and my confidence) to a
much higher level.
